Hello! 👋🏾

As the new year begins, people are trying to unlearn toxic behaviors picked up over the years and genuinely trying to be better. Yet, I’ve realized that we hardly make any progress unless we normalize certain things. To that effect, I decided to share a list of 22 things I believe we should normalize this new year and beyond.

And so, here’s a list of things you should normalize this year and beyond, in no particular order.

Normalize apologizing.

Normalize communication.

Normalize honesty.

Normalize cooperation over competition.

Normalize empathy.

Normalize reading.

Normalize working out.

Normalize being helpful without being asked.

Normalize giving people some breathing space.

Normalize asking for help.

Normalize saying “no” without making excuses.

Normalize telling people to go fvck themselves — respectably, of course.

Normalize introspection.

Normalize tolerance — for yourself and others.

Normalize taking a break.

Normalize saying how you feel.

Normalize writing down your thoughts.

Normalize saying “thank you”.

Normalize taking responsibility for your actions.

Normalize praying.

Normalize minding your business.

Normalize compersion.

What other things do you think we should all normalize? Kindly share them in the comment section. I’m looking forward to hearing from you!

Danke fürs Lesen! (German for: “Thanks for reading!)
